Our company was founded by Henrique Menezes Borges in 1877. We have been producing and exporting Madeira wine with dedication and passion for nearly a century and a half.

Where is your winery located?

We are located in the heart of Funchal, at an iconic building on Rua 31 de Janeiro since 1924.

Do you grow your own grapes?

No, we do not produce our own grapes. We collaborate with local grape growers to source the finest grapes from the five varieties we use in our production: Tinta Negra, Sercial, Verdelho, Boal, and Malvasia.

We specialize in the production of blended wines Blends, Single Harvests and the esteemed Frasqueiras.

- Frasqueiras: These are our most prestigious wines, aged for at least 20 years in oak casks, showcasing the pinnacle of Madeira wine production.

Madeira wine is incredibly robust and can be stored upright, in a cool, dark place. It is not as susceptible to temperature fluctuations as other wines, but avoiding extreme heat and direct sunlight is advisable.

How long can I keep an opened bottle of Madeira wine?

One of the unique qualities of Madeira wine is its exceptional longevity, even after opening. An opened bottle can be enjoyed for several months, up to 18 months, if stored properly with the cork replaced and kept in a cool, dark environment.
